Hello everyone,

For round three of our town guide, we give you Futako-Tamagawa!

It is the perfect place to enjoy shopping or just to give yourself a breather on your commute between Ookayama and Suzukakedai.

For starters, Tamagawa, a well-known river where many go to unwind on its spacious banks, is a straight 200 meters south of the station.

The area is also home to Hyogojima Park, where you can run along the lovely riverside, visit the Hyotan Ike (“Gourd Pond”), and picnic on the green, open fields.

A popular destination for weekend strolls, the park’s delightful backdrop will help you relax and de-stress, with the sounds of the flowing river water and the sights of families and friends playing badminton and flying kites.

It is also the ideal place to unpack a basket of your favorite goodies. Check out the annual summer fireworks too.

When feeling like shopping or dining out, visit the west side of the station, where you will find the convenient shopping complex, Futako-Tamagawa Rise.

This impressive structure has a movie theater and a hotel as well as many shops, including Tsutaya Electrics, whose exquisite interior from the beautifully displayed books and comfortable chairs will surely dazzle you.

The rooftop is elegantly equipped with wood decking, a lawn, small vegetable gardens, and ponds in which you can see medaka fish swimming.

For more retail options, Tamagawa Takashimaya is located just on the opposite side of the station. The long-time establishment has many shops, also pleasing to the eyes of window shoppers, from the wide assortment of sweets on its basement floor to the refreshing mini waterfall and fragrant herbs of its newly renovated rooftop garden.

Futako-Tamagawa is 10 minutes from Ookayama and around 30 minutes from Suzukakedai via express. Discover its many sides for your fun-and-excitement or rest-and-relaxation needs.
