Important Notice on Child Safety at the International House
The International House of Institute of Science Tokyo is a residential facility operated under Science Tokyo regulations to help visiting researchers live safely and comfortably in Japan.
However, the House Office does not provide child-watching or safety-monitoring services.
Recently, we have observed several instances of children under 10 years of age spending extended periods in the common areas or elsewhere on the premises without a parent or guardian present. Ensuring the safety of young children is critical, and inadequate supervision introduces a constant risk of accident or injury.
The International House assumes no responsibility for accidents or incidents involving children that occur on its grounds. To maintain a safe and pleasant environment for everyone, we respectfully remind all residents with families to exercise particular care for the safety of their young children.
Effective immediately, every child under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while on the International House premises.
Science Tokyo offers a babysitting support service for times when a parent or guardian cannot provide supervision. This service is available for children up to grade six in elementary school.
