Measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the International House

You are asked to kindly follow the instructions below while you are in our residence, as part of the measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

When moving in to the residence:
If you have symptoms such as fever, cough, smell and/or taste disorders, or general malaise, please contact us to discuss postponing your move-in date.
Please bring at least five face masks and a thermometer of your own. There is a supply shortage of thermometers in Japan.
- Before starting the move-in procedure,
make sure to arrive wearing a face mask- keep an appropriate physical distance
- clean your hands with sanitizer
- use the non-contact thermometer available at the residence to confirm that your temperature is below 37.5 degrees
- mask requirements(※) as needed
※If your temperature is 37.5 degrees or higher at the time of temperature check during the moving-in procedure, immediately wear a mask when in common areas.
- Please let us know if you have any underlying diseases. (Those with such diseases are prone to becoming severely ill with COVID-19.)
For example:- Those suffering diabetes, cardiac insufficiency, or respiratory illness
- Those on dialysis
- Those taking immunosuppressants or anti-cancer drugs
During your stay, please make sure to:
Wear a face mask in public areas of the residence.- Masks are no longer mandatory in common areas of the residence.
(However, if you develop COVID-19-like symptoms or you had “close contact” with a COVID-19-infected person during your stay at our residence and it’s unavoidable to go out of your unit, wear a mask when in common areas.) - Keep your hands clean using sanitizers situated at the residence.
Wear a face mask when you go out, andWash your hands and mouth when you return to the residence.- Open windows in your room regularly for sufficient ventilation.
- If you feel sick, contact the International House office via the intercom in your room.
Also the following precautions against COVID-19 are in place at the residence.
- The International House requires its staff members to wear a face mask
and/or face guard, wash their hands regularly, and use sanitizer as appropriate. - Plastic curtains are placed in the reception area as partitions.
- The residence is regularly cleaned with sanitizer by staff members.
- Hand sanitizers are located in certain areas of the residence.
- Information related to COVID-19 is provided to each resident.
Information regarding preventive measures against COVID-19 is available in each residential unit.Each residential unit is regularly cleaned with sanitizer.
