International House’s Response After Downgrading of COVID-19’s Categorization to Class 5
Following the abolishment of the “Tokyo Tech Response to COVID-19,” International House has revised its response to COVID-19 as follows:
Changes in procedures/actions:
●Move-in procedures
1) Confirmation deadline for planned move-in date
In principle, applicants need to confirm the planned move-in date at least 10 business days in advance. With the COVID-19 situation, which could cause sudden changes to plans, confirmation might have been delayed for up to 3 business days prior to the planned move-in date. The confirmation deadline is now back to normal, which is at least 10 business days in advance and will not be delayed.
For the latest information, please see “Application and Move-in Procedures“.
2) Cancellation fees
In principle, applicants need to pay the cancellation fees shown in “Cancellation and Re-reservation“. With the COVID-19 situation, which could cause sudden changes to plans, cancellation fees/first invoice of the residence were suspended when the cancellation or postponement occurred due to COVID-19 related reasons. The cancellation fee policy is now back to normal, and will not be suspended.
For the latest information, please see “Cancellation and Re-reservation“.
3) Re-reservation after cancellation
In principle, applicants need to follow the rules for cancellation after the issuance of the Notification of Permission for Residence as shown in “Cancellation and Re-reservation“. With the COVID-19 situation, which could cause sudden changes to plans, the rules were not applied when the cancellation or postponement was due to COVID-19 related reasons. The rule is now back to normal, and will be applied.
For the latest information, please see “Cancellation and Re-reservation“.
*The above changes will apply from the move-in date of July 1, 2023.
●Responses in International House
1) Wearing face masks
In principle, the decision whether or not to wear a face mask is left to residents and facility users. However, please wear a face mask in common areas if:
- You have a fever of 37.5 degrees or higher
- You have tested positive
2) Those who test positive
- During the stay-away period from campus, follow instructions from your host researcher, stay in the residence’s designated room and do not go out. In addition, wear a mask to use common spaces in the International House such as laundry and garbage area, and avoid in-person contact with others.
- When you contact the International House office, use the intercom in your room (International House residents only), telephone, email, etc. and avoid seeing the office staff in person.
