If you need an interpreter to consult a doctor off-campus, want to learn about the Japanese medical system, or want to find clinics and hospitals providing medical services in English, the following services are available:
AMDA International Medical Information Center
AMDA International Medical Information Center provides medical information and other services for foreign residents in Japan. The center also offers telephone interpretation services free of charge.
Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (*No service on holidays and Dec.29 – Jan.3)
Languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Thai, Portuguese, Filipino, Vietnamese
SHARE is a non-governmental organization offering free medical consultation and advice for non-Japanese people. The Maternal and Child Health Interpretation Counseling Service provides telephone counseling, interpreter dispatch, and remote interpretation.
Hours: Wednesday, Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (*except national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays)

This website allows you to download a symptoms’ chart online which will make it easier to explain your symptoms to a doctor. You can prepare the chart ahead and bring it to your appointment.

Tokyo Metropolitan Medical Institution Information
This website allows you to search for hospitals and clinics by location and station. Medical information over the phone is also available in English, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Spanish.
Hours: Everyday 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Yokohama Medical Association
This website allows you to search for hospitals and clinics with English (or other language)-speaking doctors. Their website is in Japanese only.
